About the Course

This course introduces educators to the purpose and design of the Universal Screeners for Number Sense and the key facets of number sense. You will learn how to administer grade-level interviews effectively, apply scoring guidelines to better understand student thinking, and use Forefront to collect student evidence. The course also shows how to access USNS Next Steps for Instruction and family communication tools so assessment results can support instruction, collaboration, and communication with families.

Meet Your Instructor

David Woodward is the founder of Forefront Education and the leader of the Universal Screeners for Number Sense project. He brings more than three decades years of experience in education, including work as a classroom teacher and district math leader, He previously served as the elementary math specialist for Boulder Valley School District in Colorado and holds degrees from Lewis & Clark College and the University of Colorado Boulder.
